A BRIEF HISTORY
Over thirty years ago, the Pioneer Museum Society was started. With the help of the community, the museum collected artifacts that represent the history of the area. Today, the museum holds over 50,000 artifacts!
SIGNIFICANT HOLDINGS
From dinosaurs to a pioneer village, this museum has something of everything. The focus is on pioneers of the region, who came via the Edson Trail. Displays contain items of Native heritage, early tools, wildlife and items used by the settlers of the area. Temporary exhibits are rotated periodically and have included themes such as radios, the City of Grande Prairie and forgeries.
The pioneer village contains many buildings, some of them being a post office, store, church, school, forestry cabin and a Hudson Bay trading post.
ARCHIVES
The South Peace Regional Archives includes photos, films, maps, documents and sound recordings from the South Peace country. It is located in the museum.
ACQUISITION POLICY
