Debolt & District Pioneer Museum Society (Debolt, AB)

SIGNIFICANT HOLDINGS
The DeBolt museum comprises five log and one frame building at Hubert Memorial Park, and two off-site buildings. The majority of our displays and exhibits are of a ‘pioneer’ nature. Each building contains a variety of displays to tell the story of the early pioneers. For example, the barn houses a time-line display from nature to community, first nations, and homemaking, and barbering, nursing, beekeeping, early electric and early business. Another example is the Crowe house which is a bachelor cabin, but includes an early general store and post office. In 2006 the museum expanded into paleontology. Roy Bickell donated a collection of sea and plant fossils that he had collected from regional river beds. The Bickell Fossil Collection is professionally displayed and labeled and includes beautiful photographs of the collecting site. The Collection debuted during our Heritage Festival & Fair in 2006 and is very popular.
